You just didn't shoot to your ability today. Look at your last 15 scores. 8 of the 15 scores were 15 points or higher so 50% of the time you're shooting above 15 points! The best 8 of 20 applies to ALL players. Several other players had lower than average rounds too. Everybody has good and bad days. Yes, using the 10 average your quota would have been lower but proportionately there would have been MUCH higher positive numbers by other players so, it doesn't matter whether it's a best 8 of 20 average or only 10 average, results would have been close to the same because everybody is under the SAME system. BUT, with 8 out of 20 it doesn't give a player an advantage in their next rounds because their scores (best 8 of 20) demonstrate they shoot better than they happen to on a bad day.
It is hard to understand the benefits of the 8 out of 20 but it is a big plus to all the players in the field when you fully understand it. IF we look at only our personal advantage/disadvantage then it may not seem fair...but it is because everybody falls under the same rules and calculations.
I understand the math, but I need 16.0 the make my quota; whereas, the last 10 rounds I averaged 12.7. So if we played teams today my 13.0 points would have been worthwhile.
