Dear Volunteers & Players, The Florida State Golf Association is monitoring the current Coronavirus COVID-19 situation very closely and we are concerned for our players, volunteers, staff, and their families. Each year, Florida receives more than 120 million visitors, including more than 10 million visitors from overseas. The risk to our area is real. Tournaments on as Scheduled - At this time, based upon the low incident level of the virus in Florida, we have not modified our plans for conducting any of our competitions. We will continue to monitor this situation and take appropriate actions as necessary. Handshakes & Hugs - Suspended - Out of due caution, we are asking our staff, volunteer officials, and players to suspend the practice of shaking hands and hugging. This includes on the 1st tee and on the 18th green where a friendly handshake or hug have been long standing acts of proper sportsmanship. As an alternative, we recommend a friendly nod, a tip of your cap, or a simple wave as a form of greeting or sportsmanship. We hope that everyone will follow the advice of the CDC and our local health authorities to lessen the risk of accidental transmission of the COVID-19 virus. Thank you for your help and understanding in following this new no-hand shake nor hugging policy. Kind Regards, Jim Demick | Executive Director Florida State Golf Association
